Centiel powers the world’s largest AI superchip factory

Centiel drives the AI era: Cutting-edge power backup for superchip production.

Guadalajara, known as the “Mexican Silicon Valley,” is poised to make a significant leap
forward in the tech world with the construction of the world’s largest superchip factory. This
ambitious initiative, led by the world’s largest multinational tech company, aims to position
Mexico as a global leader in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry.
This is where Centiel, renowned for its excellence in power protection solutions, steps in. The
Swiss brand has deployed next-generation Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
explicitly designed to meet the rigorous demands of a superchip manufacturing facility. These
UPS systems—recognised for their efficiency, scalability, and reliability—ensure that the
factory in Guadalajara maintains a steady, clean power supply, eliminating risks associated
with power interruptions.

A step toward the future of AI

The world’s largest superchip factory will be a cornerstone in the expansion of global AI
capabilities. These superchips, essential for processing massive volumes of data and training
advanced AI models, form the backbone of innovation across sectors such as medicine,
automotive, robotics, and cybersecurity. The facility will not only reinforce this tech giant’s
market leadership but also drive local talent development and technology transfer.
Centiel plays a vital role in this project. Every server built with these superchips is tested
under the energy protection provided by Centiel’s three-phase modular UPS systems, which
deliver 1.1 MW per system using lithium-ion batteries. Centiel’s ability to manage complex,
high-tech projects has made Guadalajara an ideal site for this venture, supported by its
robust infrastructure and thriving innovation ecosystem.

Advanced energy backup solutions

A key component in the factory’s success will be the integration of advanced power backup
systems. Centiel, a leader in UPS technology, through its leading partner in Mexico, will supply
100 MW of UPS systems featuring DARA technology to ensure uninterrupted operations at
the plant. DARA (Distributed Active Redundant Architecture) eliminates single points of failure
with a fully decentralised design.

Centiel – DARA: Distributed Active Redundant Architecture

In simple terms, each Centiel module is a complete UPS: it includes its own power unit,
control unit, static bypass, LCD panel, and redundant communication. Unlike traditional
modular architectures, which typically only provide redundancy in the power unit while
sharing components such as bypasses, control units, LCD panels, and communications,
Centiel’s approach removes those shared failure points, raising the bar for power protection
technology now deployed at the world’s largest superchip factory.
Centiel’s UPS systems are built for superior energy efficiency and unmatched reliability—
critical factors in a high-tech facility like this one. Their ability to protect sensitive equipment
and minimise downtime ensures uninterrupted operations in a sector where every second
counts.

Economic and social impact

The arrival of the world’s largest superchip factory in Guadalajara is a significant boost for the
local economy. The construction and operation of the facility are expected to create
hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, ranging from specialised engineers to technical and
administrative staff. The project will also invigorate the region’s tech ecosystem, attracting
more companies and fostering strategic partnerships between universities, research centres,
and private industry.
On a societal level, the factory promises to be transformational. By investing in local talent
and driving technological innovation, Guadalajara will continue to strengthen its position as a
centre of excellence in Latin America.

A vision for the future

The Guadalajara superchip factory is a clear example of how technology can drive both
economic and social progress. With the global tech leader spearheading the construction and
Centiel ensuring stable power infrastructure, Mexico is emerging as a key player in the
international AI landscape.
This combination of innovation, talent, and international collaboration is not only set to
transform Guadalajara—it’s poised to accelerate the region’s overall technological
development. This project represents a significant win for Mexico and a beacon for
technological and AI advancement worldwide.
